10,000 Eggs And Counting: Hillsborough Sheriff Preps For Massive Holiday Hunt

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is gearing up to host its Fourth Annual Easter Egg Hunt this Saturday, March 21, marking the return of a local tradition that has grown significantly since its inception.

This year’s event, held at the Victor Crist Community Center from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., will feature a record-breaking 10,000 eggs—a jump from the 8,000 provided last year.

Local families can participate in age-specific hunts designed to give every child a fair shot at finding treats. Beyond the search for eggs, the event offers a chance for residents to meet with deputies and check out various specialty units in a relaxed setting. Organizers are expecting a large crowd, noting that roughly 1,000 people attended the festivities last year.

“This is one of our favorite traditions each year,” Sheriff Chad Chronister said. “Seeing families come together, kids smiling, and our deputies connecting with the community in such a positive way is what it’s all about. We truly look forward to this event and the memories it creates.”

The gathering is a collaborative effort, organized alongside the Junior League of Tampa, Hillsborough County Parks & Recreation, and the University Area Community Development Corporation (UACDC). These partnerships aim to blend family entertainment with community wellness and safety outreach.

The Victor Crist Community Center is located at 14013 N. 22nd Street in Tampa. While the event is free and open to the public, media members planning to attend are required to RSVP by 8 a.m. on the morning of the event.
