POLK COUNTY, Fla. – A 19-year-old Lakeland woman ended up in handcuffs early Monday morning after leading Polk County Sheriff’s deputies on a high-speed chase through Interstate 4 traffic. Shauntia Dennisha Miranda was clocked traveling 110 mph in a 70 mph zone at approximately 2:53 a.m. on March 9, 2026.

According to a PCSO deputy conducting speed enforcement west of the Davenport/Haines City exit, the silver 2014 Nissan Altima was not just speeding, but driving aggressively.

Reports indicate the vehicle swerved dangerously close to the rear bumpers of three different cars while weaving through early-morning traffic.

After the deputy successfully performed a traffic stop, Miranda offered a blunt explanation for her haste. When asked why she was driving at such speeds, she told the deputy, “I really have to sh*t.”

Investigators noted that despite her claim of a bathroom emergency, Miranda had driven directly past a Love’s Travel Stop and a rest area within the final seven miles before she was pulled over.

The situation escalated once Miranda stepped out of her vehicle. Deputies reported that she began resisting their efforts to place her under arrest. A subsequent search of her person or vehicle revealed a small amount of marijuana and related drug paraphernalia.

Miranda was transported to the Sheriff’s Processing Center and faces a litany of charges. These include dangerous excessive speeding, reckless driving, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and resisting an officer without violence.
