15-Year-Old Teen Charged in Deadly Stabbing Overnight

GIBSONTON, Fla. – The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an overnight stabbing that left one man dead.

Early Thursday, at 1:42 a.m., the Communications Bureau received a 911 call in reference to a stabbing on the 8000 block of Honeywell Road in Gibsonton. Upon arrival, deputies discovered a victim with a stab wound to his upper body. The man was transported to a local hospital, where despite attempted life-saving measures, was later pronounced deceased. 

The suspect, Hunter Eargood, 15, and the victim, who knew each other, were involved in a physical altercation prior to the stabbing.

“Deputies who arrived at this scene in Gibsonton overnight were quickly able to identify the suspect and detained him immediately,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “This was an isolated incident and the young suspect will face a charge of First Degree Murder for his reckless decision to harm and kill the victim.” 

Eargood has been booked at the Hillsborough Juvenile Detention Center.
