Quick-Thinking Crews Contain Blaze in Mere Minutes, Averting Larger Disaster
A swift-moving fire engulfed approximately 16 vehicles, including several electric models, on Tuesday afternoon, sending plumes of smoke into the Florida sky.
Thanks to a rapid response from local fire rescue units, the inferno was brought under control within just ten minutes, preventing a much greater disaster.
The incident unfolded when a vehicle being moved in a yard ignited, with flames quickly spreading to nearby vehicles. Engine 25 and Engine 29 were the first on the scene, responding to the emergency call. Their immediate actions, supported by a water tender, were crucial in containing the blaze.

“A vehicle ignited while being moved, quickly spreading flames throughout the yard,” reported on-site staff, detailing the rapid escalation of the fire.
Of the 16 vehicles involved, nine sustained heavy fire damage, while the intense radiant heat impacted an additional six. The presence of electric vehicles among those involved highlights the evolving challenges firefighters face with new vehicle technologies.
Flagler County Fire Rescue units, including Battalion 25, Engine 25, Engine 29, Engine 16, Rescue 25, Tender 50, Tender 51, and Battalion 50, worked in a coordinated effort to suppress the fire and transition to overhaul and salvage operations.

The arrival of a water tender provided an additional water supply to Engine 25, ensuring sustained firefighting efforts, accordign to authorities.
The quick knockdown of the fire by the crews prevented the further spread of flames to what could have been a much larger and more destructive event. Investigations into the exact cause of the initial vehicle ignition are likely underway.
