16-Year-Old Behind The Wheel Of Stolen Car Rams Patrol Unit Before Town ‘N’ Country Arrest

TAMPA, Fla. – A teenage girl is in custody this week after a stolen vehicle report escalated into a high-speed flight and a collision with a law enforcement vehicle.

The incident began when Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office deputies were alerted by the Real Time Crime Center to a stolen car spotted near the intersection of Sheldon Road and West Hillsborough Avenue.

When units moved in to conduct a traffic stop, the driver refused to pull over, sparking a brief pursuit.

During the attempt to escape, the vehicle struck a marked patrol car. Deputies eventually managed to stop the car and detain the driver, identified as 16-year-old Angelisa N. Ugarte.

Following the roadside investigation, Ugarte was transported to jail on a string of felony and misdemeanor charges.

According to arrest records, the teen faces counts of Grand Theft Motor Vehicle, Fleeing to Elude, Resisting an Officer without Violence, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

The Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the initial detection was made possible by real-time monitoring technology that flagged the vehicle’s plates as stolen before deputies even made visual contact.

No serious injuries were reported following the impact with the patrol unit.
