16-Year-Old Plant City Girl Killed In Overnight Crash

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL. – A 16-year-old Plant City girl was killed in a crash that happened around 11:20 pm Saturday night.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, a pickup truck, driven by the Plant City teen, and a car were traveling eastbound along US-92, approaching Robinson Orange Park.

Troopers say the Plant City teen attempted unsuccessfully to overtake and pass the car resulting in the front right of the pickup truck colliding with the left rear of the car.

Both vehicles rotated to the south shoulder and struck a raised wooden sidewalk.

Troopers say upon impact with the sidewalk, the pickup truck overturned and came to a stop.

Sadly, troopers say the 16-year-old Plant City girl suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the crash.

The passenger in the pickup truck, a 17-year-old Plant City boy suffered minor injuries in the crash, while the driver of the car, a 36-year-old Auburndale woman also suffered only minor injuries.
