2 South Carolina Adults Killed In Hernando County Florida Crash

HERNANDO COUNTY, FL. – A 53-year-old Woman and 34-Year-old man, both from South Carolina, were killed in a crash that happened early Friday morning.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, an SUV was traveling southbound on US-301 approaching the intersection at SR-50, in Hernando County around 3:00 am Friday.

At the intersection of SR-50, the traffic signal was not working to a fire in area. Troopers say a flat-bed tractor trailer entered the intersection and the front of the SUV collided with the left side of the unloaded flat-bed tractor trailer.

FHP says the truck jack-knifed onto the south shoulder of the roadway and stopped while the SUV V-1 rotated to the east portion of the intersection, ejecting the two adult passengers, before stopping SR-50, east of the intersection.

Both adult passengers suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the crash. The driver of the SUV a 29-year-old Woman from Moncks Corner, SC, suffered serious injuries in the crash.

Two other child passengers, a 1-year-old girl, and an 8-year-old girl suffered minor injuries. The tractor-trailer driver, a 42-year-old man from Weeki Wachee, Florida, suffered only minor injuries.
