Two former high school band instructors in separate states are facing legal action over alleged sexual misconduct involving former students.
In Arkansas, former Jacksonville High School Band Director Kendrick Moore surrendered to authorities Friday on an active warrant for second-degree sexual assault. Law enforcement officials stated the charge originated from an investigation into inappropriate conduct involving a Jacksonville High School student. Following his surrender, the Jacksonville District Court released Moore on his own recognizance.
The Jacksonville North Pulaski School District issued a formal statement addressing Moore’s arrest, confirming he is no longer employed by the district:
“District leaders are aware of the arrest of former Jacksonville High School Band Director Kendrick Moore. The district has fully cooperated with the Jacksonville Police Department throughout the ongoing criminal investigation. We also communicated directly with families to encourage anyone with relevant information to assist law enforcement. Mr. Moore is no longer employed by the Jacksonville North Pulaski School District. The safety and well-being of our scholars remains our highest priority. While we cannot comment further on an active criminal investigation, we will continue to cooperate fully with law enforcement and remain committed to maintaining a safe learning environment for every scholar.”
In a separate case in West Virginia, former volunteer assistant band instructor Chad Fink entered a guilty plea to two counts of third-degree sexual assault.
Court records detail that a former female student reported having a consensual sexual relationship with Fink while she was between 14 and 17 years old. Fink, who was in his mid-20s at the time, served as a volunteer assistant band instructor at Cabell Midland High School.
Representatives from Cabell County Schools confirmed that Fink was never a paid staff member of the school district.
According to the criminal complaint, the victim’s parents discovered inappropriate messages between the two, though the relationship continued for a period afterward. The former student stated she came forward to report the incidents to law enforcement after completing several years of therapy sessions.
