SARASOTA, Fla. – Sarasota Police Department Traffic Unit is investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash that happened just before 11 AM on Monday.
The crash happened near the intersection of 9th Street and East Avenue, Sarasota.
A woman, age 23, of Sarasota, was struck by a vehicle. The victim was taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital where she passed away Monday afternoon as a result of injuries sustained in the crash.
Due to the circumstances surrounding the crash, Sarasota Police detectives, along with the Traffic Unit, responded to the scene.
At this time, evidence from the scene is being processed and reviewed, police say.
