28-Year-Old Tampa Woman Arrested For DUI After Fiery Crash In Manatee County

MANATEE COUNTY, Fla. – A Tampa woman was arrested early Wednesday morning after crashing into a fueling semi-truck in Manatee County overnight.

Troopers say around 2:41 a.m.; a 28-year-old Tampa woman was traveling north on I-275 at mile marker 3, negotiating a curve to the left in the inside lane. A semi fuel tanker truck was traveling north on I-275 at mile marker 3 in the outside lane.

FHP said the woman failed to maintain a single lane and entered the outside lane. The front right of her car collided with the left rear drive axle of the fuel tanker.

According to FHP, the semi-truck traveled off the roadway and came to a stop on the east grass shoulder of the highway, and the car, driven by the Tampa woman, traveled off the roadway, overturned, collided with the cable barrier.

FHP said the car came to rest in the median and erupted into flames. The woman suffered only minor injuries and was placed under arrest for driving under the influence.
