Three fellas from Florida’s east coast thought they had a foolproof plan: sell a car on Facebook Marketplace with fake paperwork, then snatch it back later. Genius, right? Well, not quite.
The Collier County Sheriff’s Office put the brakes on this clever scheme Monday, arresting Julian Perez, Fabian Romero, and Odarial Castro for allegedly trying to reclaim a Mercedes they had just sold to an unsuspecting buyer.

Seems like the buyer wasn’t as gullible as they thought. He quickly discovered the fishy paperwork at the DMV and, surprise, surprise, the sellers showed up at his house trying to take the car back. A little scuffle ensued, but the trio fled.
Unfortunately for them, Collier County deputies aren’t ones to let a good car chase go to waste. They tracked the suspects down on I-75 and put an end to their joyride.
“My message to out-of-town crooks is clear: Don’t come to Collier County to commit crime because if you do, our deputies will find you and arrest you, and you will be held accountable,” Sheriff Kevin Rambosk said.
