38-Year-Old Georgia Man Killed In Florida Motorcycle Crash After Running Red Light

Breaking News From The Free Press Tampa

PINELLAS PARK, FL. – The Pinellas Park Police Department responded to a crash involving a motorcycle and an SUV at 49th St N and 86th Ave.

When officers arrived on the scene, Pinellas Park Fire Department personnel were transporting the operator of the motorcycle, Matthew Wade, 38, to a local hospital for treatment.

Unfortunately, Matthew Wade died due to the crash while at the hospital.

Investigators determined Matthew Wade was operating a Suzuki motorcycle in the southbound lanes of 49th St, approaching the intersection of 86th Ave.  At the same time, Jose Jimenez was making a left turn from 86th Ave to travel north on 49th St N.

The traffic control signal was green for Jose Jimenez, allowing him to complete his left turn. However, Matthew Wade failed to stop for the red light, and the two motor vehicles collided at the intersection.

Alcohol and speed are factors that Matthew Wade contributed to the crash.

Jose Jimenez remained on the scene and cooperated with investigators.  No charges are expected to be filed.

No other information is expected to be released about the crash investigation.
