The Citrus County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public for any new information regarding the disappearance of Florence “Flo” Anne Coker, who went missing exactly 45 years ago.
Coker, who was 32 years old at the time, was last seen in Crystal River, Florida, on July 18, 1981. According to statements from her husband, Coker left their residence on County Road 486 between 2:30 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. following an argument.
Her husband told authorities that she packed her makeup, personal belongings, and approximately $1,000 in cash before driving away. He reported her missing two days later.
On July 29, 1981, Coker’s husband located her vehicle—a bronze, two-door 1979 Chevrolet Malibu—in a public parking lot near the Bayfront Center in St. Petersburg, Florida.
Investigators found no sign of Coker or her personal belongings at the scene. Detectives noted that her checkbook was left at her home and no money had been withdrawn from her bank account.
Family members told investigators they do not believe Coker would have left willingly without contacting her young son from a previous relationship, or her parents, noting she was highly concerned about her father’s heart problems. Her son was visiting his father in New York at the time of her disappearance.
Authorities suspect foul play in the case, which remains unsolved.
The Citrus County Sheriff’s Office stated, “Any information, no matter how small, could help bring answers and justice.”
