A series of ominous terror threats has swept across five Historically Black Colleges or Universities (HBCUs) today, leading to campus-wide lockdowns and the suspension of all operations. The frightening reports follow closely on the heels of the fatal shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University just yesterday.

Alabama State University (ASU) was the first to announce a campus lockdown this morning due to a “terrorist threat.” While specific details of the threat remain undisclosed, a university spokesperson stated, “We are working in close coordination with the appropriate law enforcement agencies to assess the situation and to ensure the safety and security of our students, faculty, staff, and the broader ASU community.”

Similar threats have been reported at four other HBCUs: Hampton University, Virginia State University, Southern University and A&M College in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and Bethune-Cookman University in Florida. All four schools have initiated lockdowns or canceled classes and campus activities in response.

Hampton University has canceled all non-essential activities for Thursday and Friday and is currently evacuating non-essential personnel.

Students have been urged to “minimize their movement across campus.” Virginia State University, Southern University, and Bethune-Cookman University are all on lockdown, with officials instructing students and staff to remain indoors and those off-campus to stay away.

The coordinated nature of the threats has raised alarms across the nation.

The incidents have left students and faculty on edge, with many connecting the events to the recent high-profile violence in Utah.
