Breaking News From The Free Press Tampa

PINELLAS COUNTY, FL. – On Wednesday, at approximately 2:30 p.m., deputies assigned to the Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) responded to Seminole Boulevard and Park Boulevard in Seminole to investigate a vehicle versus bicyclist crash.

According to investigators, 67-year-old Linda Garrison was traveling northbound on Seminole Boulevard, crossing Park Boulevard, on her electric bicycle in the area of the bicycle lane.

A 2015 Chevrolet Traverse, driven by 83-year-old John Lizak, was traveling westbound on Park Boulevard in the median lane.

Investigators say Lizak had a green light to proceed westbound and as he entered the intersection, collided with Garrison, striking her on her right side.

Garrison was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

According to investigators, speed and impairment do not appear to be factored in this crash.
