TAMPA, Fla. – A 70-year-old man is facing multiple felony charges after police say he deliberately crashed his truck into the USAA building in Tampa on Tuesday.
Robert Beaty was arrested after allegedly driving recklessly through the USAA parking garage, damaging fences, and intentionally striking a security vehicle with two occupants inside.
The incident began when Beaty arrived at the guard gate demanding to speak with a USAA representative but was refused entry.

Police responded to the scene around 2:12 p.m. and found Beaty on the third floor of the parking garage, where he was taken into custody. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Beaty was transported to Orient Road Jail and charged with two counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, burglary of an occupied structure, and criminal mischief. Police say he is not believed to be a former employee of USAA.
The motive behind Beaty’s actions remains unclear, and the investigation is ongoing.
