71-Year-Old Jacksonville Man Killed in Early Morning Pasco County Crash

LUTZ, Fla. – A 71-year-old Jacksonville man was killed early Monday morning in a crash on U.S. 41 in Lutz.

The accident happened around 4:40 AM.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, a pickup truck was traveling southbound on US-41, approximately one-half mile south of Dale Mabry Highway.

The Jacksonville man traveled southbound on US-41 and was stopped for a traffic signal at the commercial driveway near Walmart in Lutz.

The pickup truck, driven by a 34-year-old Port Richey man, failed to stop and collided with the rear of the Jacksonville man’s car.

The pickup truck traveled to the roadway shoulder and
street light pole. FHP investigators say the man suffered only minor injuries.

The Jacksonville man’s car was propelled into the intersection.

The man was transported to a local hospital, but later died from injuries sustained in the crash.
