SAINT PETERSBURG, Fla. – A 73-year-old man was killed in St. Pete over the weekend when struck by an SUV.
On Saturday, just after 8 pm, a 2004 blue Ford Explorer, driven by Desmond Bernard Blue, 42, was driving northbound in the center lane of 34th Street South at 15th Avenue South.
A bicyclist, John David Lee, 73, was crossing the north side of the intersection when the Ford Explorer struck him.
Police say that Blue stayed at the scene and is cooperating with detectives. Lee was transported to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg, where he died a few hours later.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing, and we will update this story when details are released.
