ZEPHYRHILLS, Fla. – A 75-year-old Zephyrhills man lost his life Friday night after being struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross a local road. According to reports from the Florida Highway Patrol, the fatal incident occurred at approximately 9:50 PM.

Investigators say a 21-year-old woman, also a resident of Zephyrhills, was driving a Chevrolet Tahoe eastbound on 5th Avenue. As the vehicle traveled just west of 1st Street, the pedestrian reportedly ‘darted’ across the road and entered the direct path of the oncoming SUV.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene by responding emergency personnel.
