MONROE COUNTY, Fla. – An 82-year-old Stuart, Florida man, Clarence Shawver, died Wednesday after a snorkeling incident approximately five miles off Mile Marker 60 in the Florida Keys.

Shawver was found unresponsive in the Gulf waters around 10:45 a.m. He was quickly brought ashore and transported to Fishermen’s Hospital in Marathon, where he was pronounced deceased.

Authorities have stated that foul play is not suspected in connection with the incident. An autopsy will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death, deputies say.
