CLEARWATER, FL — A two-vehicle crash on State Road 580 in Clearwater has left a motorcyclist with serious injuries, according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).

The incident, which occurred just east of Summerdale Drive at approximately 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, involved a sedan driven by a 95-year-old woman from Clearwater and a Harley-Davidson motorcycle.

FHP reports indicate that a Honda Accord driven by the elderly woman was traveling eastbound on SR-580 and had come to a stop in the center turn lane. At the same time, a Harley-Davidson motorcycle was traveling westbound on the same roadway. As the motorcycle approached, the Honda Accord reportedly made a left turn directly into its path.

The motorcyclist, a 40-year-old Clearwater woman, was unable to avoid the collision and struck the sedan. Emergency services were dispatched to the scene, and the motorcyclist was transported to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the Honda Accord was not reported to have any injuries.
