A Duval County jury has delivered a guilty verdict against Di’joure Renfrow for his role in a 2023 murder-for-hire shooting that targeted a Jacksonville home.
State Attorney Melissa Nelson announced that Renfrow was found guilty of Attempted Second-Degree Murder and Conspiracy to Commit Murder, a conviction that could land him in Florida State Prison for up to 20 years.
The violence erupted on May 19, 2023, following a dispute over an unpaid debt. Investigators found that co-defendant Shankia Ellington sent death threats to the victim after a sexual transaction went unpaid. Hours after those messages were sent, Renfrow, an associate of a local gang, arrived at the victim’s residence and unleashed a hail of gunfire.
Police say Renfrow fired 17 rounds into the house. At the time of the shooting, the victim was inside with three other people, including a young child. Despite the volume of shots fired, no one was struck or injured.

Following the attack, Renfrow sent a text message to Ellington to confirm that the “job” was completed and to demand his payment. When detectives later apprehended Ellington, she confessed to hiring Renfrow for $1,000 to carry out the killing.
The break in the case against Renfrow came on July 14, 2023, when detectives with the Community Problem Response Unit arrested him. During the arrest, officers recovered a firearm from his possessions. Forensic analysts ballistically linked that specific gun to the shell casings recovered from the scene of the shooting. Furthermore, investigators confirmed that Renfrow’s DNA was present on the weapon.
Ellington had already entered a guilty plea on April 24, 2025, for charges including Attempted First-Degree Murder, Solicitation to Commit a Capital Felony, and Written Threats to Kill.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office led the investigation, while Assistant State Attorneys Katherina Brown and Brittany Johnson handled the prosecution. The Honorable London Kite is expected to sentence Renfrow during a hearing that will be scheduled for a later date.
