A Killer On The Loose: Feds Put $5,000 Bounty On Michigan School, Illegal Barbershop Shooter

The hunt is on for a 20-year-old man accused of a brazen daytime killing inside a Detroit school building. The U.S. Marshals Service – Detroit Fugitive Apprehension Team announced a $5,000 reward for any information that leads them to Dalvine Nickerson, who has been missing since a deadly encounter late last year.

Authorities say the violence unfolded on November 14, 2025, within an illegal after-hours barbershop operating inside a local school. Nickerson allegedly pulled the trigger, killing a man before vanishing into the city.

The trail nearly went hot when Detroit Police spotted Nickerson and his brother at a friend’s apartment shortly after the shooting. A chase followed, but while officers managed to tackle and arrest his brother, Nickerson slipped away.

The fugitive was last spotted in Redford Township, though investigators now believe he has skipped town and left the Metro Detroit area entirely.

“Nickerson’s alleged crime has demonstrated a clear disregard for the law,” said Owen Cypher, U.S. Marshal of the Eastern District of Michigan. “We will use every resource at our disposal to bring him to justice.”

Nickerson is described as a Black male, standing 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighing about 150 pounds. He has black hair, brown eyes, and a highly visible, large tattoo across his neck.

Because he is wanted for homicide, officials warn the public not to approach him. Instead, if you recognize him or know where he is hiding, call the U.S. Marshals Service tip line at (866) 865-TIPS (8477) or reach out to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-Speak-Up to remain anonymous.
