New Details Emerge in High-Profile Case as Suspect is Taken into Custody
The man accused of assassinating conservative activist Charlie Kirk reportedly threatened to take his own life rather than surrender to authorities, according to his father. Tyler Robinson, 22, was arrested Thursday evening after a tense confrontation that involved his father and a youth pastor.
Robinson’s father, who recognized his son from photos released by law enforcement, confronted him about his alleged involvement in the shooting.

During this conversation, Robinson purportedly stated he would rather commit suicide than turn himself in. His father, in a desperate attempt to de-escalate the situation, persuaded Robinson to speak with their youth pastor, who was also affiliated with the U.S. Marshals fugitive task force. The pastor then alerted federal authorities, and Robinson was taken into custody by the FBI.
The arrest follows the fatal shooting of Charlie Kirk, 31, at an outdoor event at Utah Valley University. Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA, was speaking to an audience of approximately 3,000 students when he was shot in the neck.

Governor Spencer Cox revealed new details about the crime scene during a press conference. He stated that investigators found several phrases scrawled on the bullet casings from the assassin’s rifle, including
“Hey fascist! Catch!” and “If you read this you are gay LMAO.” Another message, “Bella Ciao,” was also found, a phrase that references a left-wing anthem from World War II. READ: “We Got Him” Utah Officials, FBI Detail Confession, Evidence In Charlie Kirk Assassination
A family member reportedly told authorities that Robinson had “become more political in recent years” and was “full of hate.” These comments, along with the messages found on the bullet casings, suggest the alleged motive may be politically driven. The investigation is ongoing.
