Authorities have identified the suspect in the deadly Tesla Cybertruck explosion outside Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas as Matthew Livelsberger, an active-duty U.S. Army soldier.

Livelsberger was reportedly behind the wheel of the Cybertruck when it exploded on New Year’s Day, killing him and injuring seven others. The truck was packed with firework mortars and camp fuel canisters, leading to a powerful blast.

Three U.S. officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed Livelsberger’s identity and military status. He was stationed at Fort Bragg in North Carolina, a major hub for Army Special Forces. The FBI is currently conducting investigations at a residence in Colorado Springs believed to be connected to Livelsberger.

This incident follows a separate attack in New Orleans earlier on New Year’s Day, where a man drove a truck into a crowd, killing 15 people. Authorities are investigating both incidents, including any potential links between the two suspects.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk confirmed that the Cybertruck explosion was caused by the explosives carried in the vehicle and not due to any malfunction of the electric truck itself.

“All vehicle telemetry was positive at the time of the explosion,” Musk stated on social media.

The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to determine the motive behind the attack and whether Livelsberger acted alone.
