HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. — Hillsborough County Mosquito Management Services, teaming up with the Manatee County Mosquito Control District, is scheduled to spray for adult mosquitoes from the air starting Wednesday night, Aug. 26.
The aerial operation will cover sections of East Tampa, Brandon, and Seffner. Flights are scheduled to begin at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday and wrap up by 6 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 27.
Crews will apply Dibrom and Fyfanone insecticides from an altitude of 150 feet at a rate of one ounce per acre. The designated spray zone sits within four boundaries: Bessie Dix Road to the north, Bloomingdale Road to the south, Gallagher Road to the east, and U.S. 41 to the west.
If weather or other conditions delay the operation, county officials have set backup spray dates for Thursday, Aug. 27, and Friday, Aug. 28.
Hillsborough County maintains an online tracker showing active treatment areas, along with a notification system where locals can sign up for alerts about upcoming ground and aerial spraying. Residents with questions can reach Mosquito Management Services directly at (813) 635-5400.
