Strongman and former action-movie hero Arnold Schwarzenegger looked like a member of the other ingrates infesting professional sports when he recently bellowed “Screw your freedom,” while chilling with Alexander Vindman, the left’s hero of the Trump impeachment.
In a YouTube video to promote Vindman’s book, Schwarzenegger was making the point that people had to wear masks and was rejecting the idea that they could choose for themselves how to live.
“Yeah, you have the freedom to wear no mask. But you know something, you’re a schmuck for not wearing a mask because you’re supposed to protect the fellow members around you,” said Schwarzenegger in the video two weeks ago.
“I don’t want to villainize anyone here,” he added, “but I just wanted to tell everyone, let’s work together and let’s stop fighting because there is a virus, and it’s better to get vaccinated [and] to wear a mask.”
Well, Aaron Singerman has a message for Ahh-nuld: Screw you.
According to the website Boundingintocomics.com on Friday, Singerman, a fitness entrepreneur and the founder of bodybuilding supplement REDCON1, has cut ties with all of Schwarzenegger’s bodybuilding events.
“After much deliberation, we have decided at REDCON1 to no longer sponsor the Arnold Classic or any of the Arnold events around the world, and also not attend the Arnold events,” Singerman said in his own YouTube video.
“Over the years I’ve overlooked a lot of stuff; you probably too,” he added. “I’ve overlooked a lot of stuff with Arnold where I said ‘Well, that’s just Arnold, right?’ And because we love him so much we just keep overlooking, and overlooking, and overlooking.”
“Well, unfortunately, his most recent comments… so, when somebody says ‘screw your freedom’ I can’t, and REDCON1 can’t in good conscious continue to spend, you know hundreds of thousands of dollars sponsoring that person or show with a name honouring that person,” Singerman said.
The CEO assured viewers he was not driven by partisan politics, but rather because he believes “America is great because there’s freedoms.”
“Arnold is free to say the things he wants to say, right?” Singerman said. “He may say things I totally disagree with. Somebody else may say things that I find disgusting. That’s what makes America great. You have the ability to say it. I have the ability to disagree.”
“I’m voting with the REDCON1 dollars that I don’t want to be any part of that,” he added.
Continuing, Singerman said, “I’m not for cancelling anybody. Don’t cancel Arnold, but don’t support him…if you’re me. If you like it, go there. I won’t be there, unfortunately. So if you’re looking to see … REDCON1 athletes, or myself, unfortunately you won’t.”
The website noted that in a separate but related Instagram post, Singerman noted that Schwarzenegger was a “guy who had nothing and no advantages, who never made an excuse, and created a tremendous success,” as he “became an icon based on his work ethic, his charisma, and his grit.”
“Anyone who says ‘screw your freedoms’ is un-American, and REDCON1 is a patriotic pro-freedom brand,” Singerman stated. “We support freedom of choice. We don’t want Arnold censored or cancelled. We just can’t support his opinion with our dollars.”
