Attorney General Pam Bondi has issued a sweeping directive to federal law enforcement, ordering the FBI to compile a list of Antifa groups and other “left-wing extremists” for potential prosecution within a month.

The move marks a significant escalation in the Trump administration’s counterterrorism strategy, pivoting federal resources toward what the White House describes as organized political violence. According to a memo sent Thursday and reported by multiple outlets, including Reuters and Bloomberg Law, the FBI faces a 30-day deadline to identify groups that may be engaging in domestic terrorism and to devise strategies to dismantle them.

In the memo, Bondi outlines a broad scope for what constitutes actionable threats. She reportedly explicitly targets actors who use violence to push specific social or political agendas. The directive lists opposition to immigration enforcement, “radical gender ideology,” “anti-capitalism,” “anti-Americanism,” and “anti-Christianity” as markers of the ideologies in question.

“These domestic terrorists use violence or the threat of violence to advance political and social agendas,” Bondi wrote in the memo. She instructed the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Forces—which combine federal, state, and local power—to “prioritize the investigation of such conduct.”

The directive creates a wide net for investigators. Bondi has ordered agencies to dust off intelligence files on Antifa groups and review unsolved domestic terrorism incidents from the past five years. The memo specifically highlighted crimes such as the “doxxing” of police officers and threats made against Supreme Court justices as key areas of interest.

To build this roster of targets, the Attorney General is requiring the bureau to lean heavily on state and local law enforcement partners for intelligence.

Beyond immediate investigations, the Justice Department is also shifting its financial and logistical machinery. Bondi reportedly instructed federal grant-making offices to prioritize funding for states and localities that maintain active anti-domestic terrorism programs.

Additionally, the FBI has been told to streamline its public tip lines, making it easier for citizens to submit media evidence regarding suspected domestic terrorism.

The order codifies President Donald Trump’s long-standing verbal attacks on the Antifa movement into formal Justice Department policy, signaling a sharp pivot in federal law enforcement priorities for the coming term.
