PASCO COUNTY, Fla. – A 78-year-old man from Spring Hill died following a violent single-vehicle accident on State Road 589 Thursday afternoon. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the fatal incident occurred around 2:28 PM on April 9 near milepost 33 in Pasco County.
The man was driving a Toyota Avalon northbound when he lost control of the vehicle for unknown reasons. Investigators report that the sedan veered off the pavement and onto the shoulder of the highway.
The car then struck an embankment, which launched the vehicle into the air. While airborne, the Toyota collided with a tree before eventually overturning.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene and transported the driver to a nearby hospital. Despite medical efforts, the Florida Highway Patrol confirmed he later passed away from the injuries sustained in the wreck.
No other vehicles were involved in the accident, and the driver was the sole occupant of the Toyota. Troopers have not yet released the man’s identity pending notification of his family.
