A small aircraft carrying two people went down in a heavily wooded area of Kissimmee on Saturday afternoon, forcing rescue crews to use police aviation support just to locate the wreckage.
The incident unfolded at approximately 2:59 p.m. when the City of Kissimmee Fire Department received reports of a small aircraft crash near the intersection of W. Clay Street and S. John Young Parkway. When first responders arrived, they found their path blocked by dense vegetation and limited access points leading to the downed plane.
To reach the site, emergency crews launched a multi-agency operation. The City of Kissimmee Police Department and the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office joined the effort, with the Sheriff’s Office deploying a helicopter to spot the aircraft from above. The aviation crew then guided ground teams through the thick brush directly to the site.
Authorities have identified the downed aircraft as a Cessna C150.
Because the investigation is in its earliest stages, officials have not yet released details about the condition of the two occupants or the cause of the plane’s crash. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) have taken over the scene to investigate the incident and determine the official cause of the crash.
