Alabama Senator Connects President’s Chronic Vein Condition to Political Pressures, Amidst Broader Interview on Unsubstantiated Claims and Criticisms.
The White House announced Thursday that President Trump has been diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency, a condition characterized by leg veins struggling to return blood to the heart, often leading to ankle swelling.
The condition is common among individuals over the age of 70.
Following the announcement, Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) suggested the President’s health condition could be a consequence of his intense efforts in “fighting the radicals.”

During a Sunday interview on WABC 770 AM, Tuberville stated, “The pressure on somebody like President Trump right now, not just from outside entities … all over the world, but also fighting the radicals in this country. Every day it’s almost like a fistfight.”
Tuberville also reiterated claims regarding the 2020 presidential election, asserting it was stolen, and made allegations about illegal immigrants casting votes for Democrats.
Additionally, he criticized Zohran Mamdani, the Democratic nominee for New York City mayor, calling him “a communist” and questioning his past stance on defunding the police.
Mamdani, who identifies as a Democratic socialist, had called for defunding the police in 2020.
Adding to his recent public statements, Senator Tommy Tuberville also penned an op-ed in the Daily Caller on Thursday, calling for the dismissal of Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell.

In the piece, Tuberville criticized Powell’s refusal to lower interest rates, arguing it is detrimental to American families and the economy during what he described as a “Golden Age of America” under President Donald J. Trump’s “America First policies.”
Tuberville asserted that Powell has “gone rogue” and is operating with an “old Biden Democrat Socialist playbook,” leading to high interest rates, increased borrowing costs, and hardship for families and small businesses.
Tuberville further accused Powell of political alignment with the “D.C. Swamp” and the “Democrat Socialist Communist Party,” claiming the Fed is acting as a political arm rather than an independent entity. He referred to Powell’s past assessment of inflation as “transitory” in 2021 as a “mess” and a sign of misjudgment.
The senator concluded by stating it is “time to fire Jerome Powell and bring in a Fed Chair who understands the America First vision,” advocating for a leader who will prioritize American workers through tax cuts and deregulation.
