The Florida Missing Child Alert for 5-year-old Aaron Pena out of Orange County has been canceled.
The body of 5-year-old Aaron Peña was recovered from a pond near his Orange County home on Thanksgiving morning., according to deputies.
“It is with sadness to report the child has been found deceased. Please remember his family and friends during this difficult time,” said FLDE.
The boy’s mother, Melissa Stanton, said the 5-year-old was non-verbal with autism and wandered away from his home Wednesday.
Pena was last seen in the area of the 11000 block of Savannah Landing Circle in Orlando, Florida, and was wearing a brown long-sleeve shirt with a bear holding a boombox and light-colored dinosaur pajama pants.
“It’s with a heavy heart that we must report that Aaron Pena was found, deceased, in a body of water not far from his home. We are grieving his loss and our prayers are with his family,” the sheriff’s office said in a Facebook post.
