Colorado Republican Congresswoman Lauren Boebert has launched her campaign for a fourth term in the U.S. House, immediately capturing attention with a pledge to pursue “the truth about UFOs,” according to a re-election campaign email sent to potential donors.

The message focuses heavily on unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAPs), the government’s preferred term for what are commonly known as UFOs, accusing Washington bureaucrats of a decades-long cover-up.

“For decades, our government has shrouded the truth about UFOs in a veil of secrecy,” the campaign email stated. “Strange crafts have been spotted soaring through our skies, defying the laws of physics, and yet the bureaucrats in Washington act like we’re too NAIVE to handle the facts. I SAY ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! The American people aren’t children… We deserved to know what’s really going on up there.”

The campaign focus comes as Boebert prepares for the November 2026 midterms, following a contentious political journey that saw her switch to a more reliably conservative district in 2024, where she secured a third term.

Her previous election in 2022 was won by a razor-thin margin of just 546 votes.

Political Analyst Calls Message a ‘Cry for Help’

The UFO pledge immediately drew scrutiny from political observers. Democratic political analyst Andy Boian, speaking to Colorado news station KDVR, interpreted the campaign email as “almost a cry for help… to be honest.”

Boian suggested that a sitting member of Congress might better spend her time addressing immediate issues, such as facilitating ways to reopen the federal government after a recent shutdown that occurred when a Republican-backed funding bill failed to pass the Senate amidst Democratic demands for concessions on healthcare and other spending priorities.

However, Boian acknowledged that outlandish campaign messages are often used by candidates seeking to generate money or voter support, though he added he did not currently see evidence that Boebert was desperate for either.

In response to the commentary, the Boebert campaign maintained that the message was performing “extremely well” among prospective donors who share a desire for government answers on the issue.

The campaign message is consistent with the Congresswoman’s previous public statements and questions regarding UAPs. During a congressional hearing on UAPs in November 2024, Rep. Boebert pressed witnesses on the possibility of a secretive, non-human presence in the world’s oceans.
