Former President Donald Trump

Another State Wants To Have Trump Highway

Former President Donald Trump has had his renowned name affixed to buildings, golf courses, and even steaks, bottles of water, and a board game.

Out in Wyoming, they want to put it on a highway.

According to The Washington Times, state Rep. Chuck Gray, a Republican from Casper, wants to designate a nearly 11-mile stretch of Wyoming Highway 258, which is also labeled Wyoming Boulevard, the President Donald J. Trump Highway.

The highway bypasses Gray’s hometown.

The Times noted that Gray’s measure would dole out $2,800 to install new highway signs bearing the road’s new name.

The Wyoming Department of Transportation also could offset the cost by accepting and spending donations from private donors.

Wyoming lawmakers gather Monday for a special budget session. Because Gray’s bill is not specifically a budget bill, it will require support from two-thirds of all lawmakers to get on the agenda.

While U.S. Rep Liz Cheney, a Republican who is Wyoming’s only House member, has become the darling of left-wingers for her opposition to Trump, the 45th president captured 70 percent of the vote in 2020.

This is not the first time someone wanted Trump’s name memorialized along a highway.

As The Free Press reported in January 2021, Florida state Rep. Anthony Sabatini advocated naming U.S. Highway 27 as the “President Donald J. Trump Highway.”

“Looking forward to working on this important designation honoring one of the greatest Presidents in American History,” Sabatini tweeted at the time.

Sabatini’s bill, which was not passed, followed efforts by Republican state lawmakers in Utah, South Carolina, and Oklahoma who had filed bills to rename major highways for Trump, going back to 2018.

According to the Times, Oklahoma actually named a 20-mile stretch of road in the state’s panhandle the President Donald J. Trump Highway under a bill enacted in May 2021.
