President Donald Trump on Monday unveiled a comprehensive 20-point proposal aimed at ending the war in Gaza and securing the release of remaining hostages, a plan publicly and fully supported by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The proposal, which leans heavily into conditions that Hamas has previously rejected, comes as the U.S. president signals increasing frustration with the protracted and bloody conflict.

President Trump appears to be making a calculated gamble that the militant group is now so “decimated” it will have “no choice” but to accept what he and Netanyahu are framing as a final, best offer.

A Stark Warning

Following a meeting with Trump at the White House, Prime Minister Netanyahu issued a warning to Hamas regarding the proposal’s acceptance.

“If Hamas rejects your plan, Mr. President, or if they supposedly accept it and then do everything to counter it, then Israel will finish the job by itself,” Netanyahu stated. “This can be done the easy way or it can be done the hard way, but it will be done.”

The full details of the 20-point plan have not been released, but it is intended to provide a clear roadmap for de-escalation, hostage release, and post-war governance.

Review and Support

The proposal was presented to Hamas negotiators by Qatar’s prime minister and Egypt’s intelligence chief. A source familiar with the matter, speaking on the condition of anonymity, indicated that Hamas is currently reviewing the plan in “good faith.”

Internationally, the plan has garnered significant early support. The Palestinian government in the occupied West Bank welcomed the proposal and committed to implementing the reforms called for within the document.

Furthermore, the governments of Egypt, Jordan, Indonesia, Pakistan, Turkey, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates issued a joint statement applauding President Trump’s initiative, saying they “welcome the role of the American president and his sincere efforts aimed at ending the war in Gaza” and “affirm their readiness to engage positively and constructively with the United States and the parties toward finalising the agreement and ensuring its implementation”.

The collective endorsement signals potential momentum for the peace effort, despite the steep challenges posed by Hamas’s prior rejections of similar terms.
