TAMPA, Fla. – Tampa police are piecing together what happened early Thursday morning after a fight at a home turned deadly.

It started just before 1:00 a.m. Officers rushed to a house on the 10200 block of Ninevah Road after getting a call that someone had been shot.

When police arrived, they found a chaotic scene. A young woman in her early 20s was badly hurt with injuries to her upper body. They also found a man in his late 20s who had been stabbed.

Paramedics and police tried to save the woman’s life at the scene, but her injuries were too severe, and died at the home. The man was taken to a local hospital. Doctors say he is currently stable.

Detectives believe this wasn’t a random attack. According to the early investigation, the man and woman were arguing inside the house. The argument got physical, and things spiraled out of control.

Police say there was a third person in the home who tried to step in and stop the fight.

Right now, investigators are talking to everyone involved to figure out exactly how the argument turned into a homicide. Police have confirmed that everyone involved knew each other.

The investigation is still active, and more details may be released soon, police say.
