POLK COUNTY, Fla. – A 28-year-old Lakeland man, already in jail on unrelated charges, has been arrested again—this time for stealing a bicycle from the side of a Dollar General store. Austin Clay Walker now faces new charges of felony petit theft after detectives identified him in a security video.

The bizarre incident unfolded after a bicycle was reported stolen on September 2 from a Dollar General store on North Combee Road. Polk County Sheriff’s Office Detective Evans reviewed the store’s security footage and not only saw the theft happen but immediately recognized the suspect: Austin Clay Walker.

The only problem was Walker was already an inmate at the Polk County Jail.

When interviewed by Detective Evans, Walker admitted to the theft but refused to disclose the bicycle’s location. Due to his previous theft convictions, Walker was charged with felony petit theft.

In addition to the new charge, Walker is also being held on a warrant from Hillsborough County for failure to appear in court on a charge of driving with a suspended or revoked license.

Walker remains in the Polk County Jail.
