LEE COUNTY, Fla. – A Cape Coral man is behind bars after a neighborhood spat took a medieval turn last Wednesday evening. Police arrested 41-year-old Raul Elosegui Fernandez following an incident where he allegedly brandished a three-foot sword during a heated confrontation.
The situation unfolded around 6:57 p.m. on March 25, 2026, when officers were called to the 1800 block of Everest Parkway.
According to investigators, what started as a verbal disagreement between neighbors quickly spiraled. Police reports indicate that Fernandez went to his white Chevrolet pickup truck and pulled out a weapon described as a tan-handled sword with a metal blade.
Witnesses told responding officers that Fernandez raised the weapon over his shoulder and moved toward his neighbor while shouting threats.

The victim managed to retreat into their home and dial 911, while Fernandez reportedly fled the scene in his truck.
The search for the suspect didn’t last long. Cape Coral Police tracked the vehicle to Fernandez’s residence on SW 6th Place. Through the windows of the pickup, officers spotted the sword sitting inside. The weapon was seized as evidence, and Fernandez was taken into custody without further incident.
Fernandez now faces a felony charge of Assault with a Deadly Weapon. Records show he was processed into the local detention facility following the investigation. No injuries were reported during the encounter.
