Pete Rose, the record-holder for most hits in baseball history and a controversial figure due to his banishment from the sport for gambling, passed away on Monday at the age of 83.
Stephanie Wheatley, a spokesperson for Clark County in Nevada, confirmed his death but noted the cause and manner of death remain undetermined.
For generations of baseball fans, Rose embodied the spirit of the game. His nickname, “Charlie Hustle,” perfectly captured his relentless style of play. From his signature headfirst slides to his all-out sprints on routine walks, Rose’s passion for baseball was undeniable.
He remains a beloved figure for his contributions on the field.
