The Tampa Bay area of Florida is a beautiful place to live, and there are lots of scenic drives and wonderful day trips you can take around the region. Here are some of the best.

Courtney Campbell Causeway

The Courtney Campbell Causeway crosses almost ten miles of gorgeous blue waters between Tampa and Clearwater. As you pass Tampa Bay, keep an eye out for dolphins in the water.

Plus, along the route, there are lots of places where you can picnic and watch the golden Floridian sun go down.

Bayshore Boulevard

If you are looking for a nearby scenic drive, Bayshore Boulevard is one of the best options. Magnificent views of Hillsborough Bay can be seen from the road. You can also view historic homes and mansions.

And if you want to take a stroll, and perhaps pick up a snack, there is perhaps no better place to do it than on Bayshore Boulevard, which you may be surprised to learn has the world’s longest continuous sidewalk, at 4.5 miles.

Palma Sola Scenic Highway

One scenic highway near Tampa Bay that is undoubtedly worth traveling along for a day trip is the Palma Sola Scenic Highway. You will take in amazing views of the ocean and beach as you cross Palma Sola Bay.

And if you want a longer journey, keep on cruising until you connect to the Bradenton Beach Scenic Highway.

Bradenton Beach Scenic Highway

Scenic Highways are called so for a reason. Yes, they are incredibly scenic! Near Tampa Bay, you will find the Bradenton Beach Scenic Highway, which offers breathtaking green scenery and amazing Old Florida architecture along the oceanfront.

With Sarasota Bay on one side and the Gulf of Mexico on the other, you are sure to enjoy spending a whole day taking in incredible views along this highway.

However, it is worth giving a word of caution. When driving on busy highways, particularly at intersections, make sure you are not so distracted by the beautiful scenery that you do not pay attention to the road and end up in an accident with another vehicle, like a car or truck.

You should always exercise caution at dangerous intersections. Though, if you do find yourself being involved in a truck accident that is not your fault, for instance, after you have sought medical attention, make sure you consult a truck accident lawyer to see if you can claim financial compensation.

Bok Tower Gardens

One of the best places to visit for a day trip is the infamous Bok Tower Gardens. Nestled between rolling hills and citrus groves, the gardens cover fifty acres and are home to a wide variety of greenery, such as palms, ferns, oaks, magnolias, camellias, and azaleas.

Caladesi Island State Park

Caladesi Island State Park is certainly one of the best day trips from the Tampa Bay area that you can go on. It takes around forty minutes to get to Caladesi Island State Park. Though, the island itself is only accessible by boat.

Once there, you will find yourself in a tropical island paradise. You can relax on the pristine white sand, swim in the blue waters, or do something more energetic, such as kayaking or hiking.

Crystal River

Another incredibly scenic spot that is not far from Tampa Bay and which is undoubtedly worth visiting is the Three Sisters Spring at Crystal River.

While the area is charmingly beautiful, and there are plenty of activities to do, such as jet skiing, the main attraction of Crystal River is the manatees. Crystal River is one of just a few places in Florida where you can regularly go swimming with manatees.
