Byron Donalds is solidifying his support among Florida law enforcement. On Saturday, Seminole County Sheriff Dennis Lemma officially endorsed Donalds for Governor.
The announcement came just one day after Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd, one of the state’s most well-known figures, pledged his support for the campaign.
The two sheriffs join a growing list of backers that includes President Trump, Elon Musk, and over two dozen other Florida sheriffs.
Sheriff Lemma said his decision came down to leadership.
“Strong leadership and accountable government matter,” Lemma said in a statement on Saturday. He noted that Donalds has shown he is committed to public safety and supporting officers across the state.
Sheriff Judd, famous for his strict stance on crime and his press conferences, gave a similar reason for his endorsement. He praised Donalds for supporting truth-in-sentencing laws and opposing early parole.

“It’s my honor to energetically support Byron Donalds,” Judd said. “He boldly supports law enforcement and holding criminals accountable.”
Byron Donalds welcomed the support from both lawmen. He said he intends to be the “law and order” candidate in the race.
“As Governor, there will be no confusion about where I stand,” Donalds said. “Those who break the law will be behind bars, and public safety will always come first.”
These two sheriffs aren’t standing alone. They join a massive list of heavy hitters backing Donalds, including President Donald Trump and tech mogul Elon Musk. The campaign now has the support of 27 top sheriffs across the state, along with most of the Republican members of the Florida House.
