Big Wins Served Up: Florida Sen. Ashley Moody Highlights Major Tax Breaks At A Polk County BBQ Stop

POLK COUNTY, Fla. – U.S. Senator Ashley Moody made a stop at Blackburn’s BBQ in Eagle Lake on Wednesday to discuss the recent implementation of two major tax policies: the elimination of taxes on tips and Social Security benefits.

The visit allowed the Senator to speak directly with local service industry workers and retirees about the “Working Families Tax Cuts” legislation.

During the event, Moody sat down with residents to hear how the changes are affecting their monthly budgets. The new laws are designed to allow hospitality workers to keep 100% of their gratuities and ensure that seniors receiving Social Security do not see their benefits reduced by federal taxes.

“It was great to visit Eagle Lake yesterday,” Senator Moody said. “Hearing directly from the hardworking Floridians and seniors at Blackburn’s BBQ reminded me exactly why I fight every day in Washington. No Tax on Tips and No Tax on Social Security are significant wins for our state and I am proud to have supported the bill that put more of your hard-earned money back in your pockets.”

Moody, a fifth-generation Floridian who previously served as the state’s Attorney General, was appointed to the U.S. Senate in January 2025 by Governor Ron DeSantis. Since taking office, she has remained a vocal supporter of the current administration’s economic agenda.

As she prepares for her upcoming campaign to remain in the Senate, Moody emphasized that these tax cuts are a cornerstone of her efforts to provide financial relief to the Sunshine State.

“I’m running to continue serving the Sunshine State to deliver even more wins for Florida families,” Moody added.
