Bitcoin Steady Above $64,000 As Crypto Markets Await Regulatory Decisions

The cryptocurrency market showed signs of stabilization Friday, with major digital assets trading in a defined range as investors closely monitored developments in Washington regarding future industry regulation.

Bitcoin, the largest cryptocurrency by market value, traded at $64,191.62 as of late Friday afternoon. The asset opened the daily session near $63,770 before dipping to an intraday low of $62,534.99 during morning trading hours.

It subsequently rebounded, marking a modest gain of less than 1% over the 24-hour period.

Market analysts noted that a key technical metric—the percentage of Bitcoin supply currently held at a loss—surpassed the 50% threshold.

Historically, this specific data point has correlated with structural market floors during previous market cycles, though market observers continue to watch for definitive signs of seller exhaustion amidst ongoing macroeconomic uncertainty.

XRP tracked a similar trajectory, trading at $1.0912 by late afternoon. The token fluctuated between a low of $1.0714 and a high of $1.0939 throughout the day. The total digital asset market capitalization remained positioned at approximately $2.17 trillion, with trading volumes reflecting a cautious stance among institutional and retail participants.

The steady price action occurred alongside a critical legislative deadline in Washington. The U.S. House Financial Services Committee held a field hearing in New York on Friday focused on the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act.

The proposed framework aims to establish formal legal guidelines for digital currencies, though prediction markets currently place the probability of the bill passing the Senate prior to the upcoming August recess at roughly 43%.
