Mike Dunavant: A Proven Record in Western Tennessee

During his prior tenure, Memphis saw a notable 13.1% decrease in overall violent crime between 2017 and 2019 under his leadership.
Dunavant is also credited with implementing a successful carjacking initiative in collaboration with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) and local law enforcement, leading to aggressive prosecutions of armed carjackings. He also revitalized the Project Safe Neighborhoods Task Force, fostering enhanced cooperation among local and federal law enforcement agencies.
Senator Blackburn emphasized that Dunavant’s leadership, experience, and proven track record are precisely what is needed to continue reducing violent crime and enhancing public safety in Memphis.
