Lego Capitol Riot

A Blockbuster Detail About Lego And The Capitol Riot, Turns Into Another Dud

As some liberals continue to proclaim that the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol was worse than 9/11, Pearl Harbor, or some other horrific moment in American history, the Justice Department continues to treat it like a farce.

An overwhelming number of defendants have been charged with trespassing.

The only person who was killed directly as a result of the violence remains a former President Donald Trump supporter shot to death by a Capitol Police officer, who won’t be punished, and who once left this loaded service weapon in a men’s room.

Now, we discover that a Lego set that drew the attention of federal authorities wasn’t all it was cracked up to be.

Breitbart News reported last week that federal prosecutors demanded that Robert Morss, a substitute teacher who reportedly mixed it up with cops on Jan. 6, be held without bail until his trail.

According to court records, Breitbart noted, FBI investigators recovered clothing and other items that seemed to match things he had with him at the riot, a Gadsden “Don’t Tread on Me” flag, a black tourniquet, military fatigues. He also had three firearms in his possession, and record said, “Law enforcement also recovered a fully constructed U.S. Capitol Lego set.”

That tidbit sent liberal hearts a-fluttering.

Business Insider noted, “it’s unclear if he used the Capitol LEGO set as a teaching tool or to plan his approach on January 6.” Rolling Stone reported, “U.S. attorneys did not specify whether or not Morss utilized the Lego set, advertised as including ‘a collectible booklet containing information about the design, architecture, and history of the building,’ to prepare for the Capitol riot,” and that Lego did not respond to a request for comment. Similarly, The Daily Beast pointed out, “The prosecutors didn’t say whether Morss used his toy to help plan the Capitol insurrection.”

Well, it turned out that the FBI got it wrong, according to Breitbart.

A more recent court filing stated, “In the original detention memoranda, the undersigned stated that law enforcement found a ‘fully constructed’ U.S. Capitol Lego set. Please note that after a review of the photographs from the search, there appears to have been a miscommunication and that statement appears to be inaccurate. The Lego set was in a box and not fully constructed at the time of the search, as pictured below.”

No wonder the insurrectionists couldn’t overthrow the government: Morss left the toy in the box.

This is your government at work. Cherish it.
