CITRUS COUNTY, Fla. – A two-vehicle accident briefly snarled traffic on CR-488 Friday morning after a boat became detached from its trailer during a collision at the intersection of CR-495. The incident, which occurred at approximately 9:40 AM, involved a Ford F350 and a Kia Soul.
Authorities report that a 63-year-old man from Ocala was traveling westbound in the Ford truck while towing a boat. As he attempted to make a left turn onto CR-495, he entered the path of an eastbound Kia Soul driven by a 29-year-old woman from Citrus Springs.

The Kia struck the boat trailer, and the impact caused the boat to break free from its hitches, sliding off the trailer and coming to a rest directly on the road.
Emergency responders arrived on the scene to find the driver of the Kia suffering from minor injuries.
Despite the damage to her vehicle, she was treated on-site and was not transported to a hospital. The driver of the Ford truck was uninjured in the crash.
Crews worked to clear the dislodged vessel from the travel lanes to restore normal traffic flow.
