MONROE COUNTY, Fla. – An 84-year-old Immokalee man was found dead Monday morning in a canal behind a home in Marathon, Florida, triggering an investigation by local authorities who say foul play is not currently suspected.
Deputies with the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence on Sombrero Beach Road in Marathon, Florida, on Monday morning after an 84-year-old man was found dead in a canal.
Authorities arrived at the scene at approximately 8:55 a.m. on July 20, 2026. The deceased was identified as Jackie Williams of Immokalee, Florida.
Williams’ body was located in the water adjacent to a vessel docked behind the property.
The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death remains ongoing.
