A violent attack shattered the quiet atmosphere of a local bookstore Monday night, leaving a 65-year-old woman dead and a suspect in custody.
Police rushed to the Barnes & Noble on Legacy Avenue in Palm Beach Gardens, just before 8 p.m., after reports of a stabbing. Upon entering the store, officers found the victim, identified as Rita B. Loncharich, suffering from severe injuries, according to WPTV.
First responders immediately began rendering aid before Palm Beach Gardens Fire Rescue rushed her to a nearby hospital. Despite their efforts, Loncharich was pronounced dead a short time later.

According to witness accounts provided to investigators, the assailant stabbed Loncharich inside the store and immediately fled the scene. Police quickly fanned out across the area and located the suspect, 40-year-old Antonio R. Moore, arresting him shortly after the attack.
Detectives describe the investigation as active and ongoing.
As of Tuesday, authorities have not released a motive for the killing, stating that they are still working to piece together what led up to the fatal encounter. Additional details are expected to be released as the case develops.
