United States Border Patrol Chief Gregory Bovino issued a blunt forecast for the future of immigration enforcement on Saturday: “Hold on to your hats.”
In a fiery segment on Fox News Saturday in America, Bovino painted a picture of an agency ready to ramp up operations across dozens of major cities, dismissing the mounting political pushback as the dangerous product of “weaker-minded” critics.
The Chief’s appearance served as both a defense of his agents and a direct offensive against the elected officials he claims are inciting violence against them.
Bovino took specific aim at high-profile Democrats, including California Governor Gavin Newsom and North Carolina Governor Josh Stein. He argued that their descriptions of immigration agents—often comparing them to “masked bank robbers” or invoking historical authoritarianism—act as a trigger for real-world hostility.

“It’s like turning a light switch on,” Bovino told host Kayleigh McEnany. He cited “Operation Charlotte’s Web” in North Carolina, alleging that the mission was peaceful until Governor Stein publicly criticized the agency. “The next day the violence started and it never abated,” Bovino said, asserting that politicians know exactly how their words resonate with agitated constituents. “Blood is on the hands of many people, including those elected representatives”.
The interview also highlighted the deep divide over the nature of the arrests being made.
Addressing claims that many detainees lack violent criminal records, Bovino countered that unauthorized re-entry into the country is a felony in itself, a distinction he feels is conveniently ignored by pundits in “comfortable Manhattan studios”.

Despite the controversy, Bovino made it clear that the agency’s “march” to secure communities is only accelerating. “We’re going to be… in dozens of American cities,” he promised, warning that the situation is about to “get real” for those standing in the way of enforcement efforts.
