Border czar Tom Homan provided Fox News host Harris Faulkner an update on unaccompanied children that the Biden administration lost track of.
During a Friday appearance on Fox News’ “The Faulkner Focus,” former Border Czar Tom Homan discussed the status of unaccompanied children who entered the country and were subsequently unaccounted for. His comments addressed figures and efforts related to tracking these minors.
As of February 2023, at least 85,000 children placed in the custody of the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) were unaccounted for, according to a report by The New York Times. Some previous administration officials have estimated this figure could be as high as 300,000.

When asked by host Harris Faulkner about a report indicating that at least 7,500 of these children had since been accounted for, Homan stated, “Well, the Biden administration, not only did they lose over 300,000, they weren’t looking for them.” He then contrasted this with the prior administration’s approach: “President Trump committed from day one, on top of the mass deportations, on top of having the most secure border in the history of this nation, he instructed us go find these kids. We know some of these kids are in forced labor and sex trafficking and we found some, unfortunately, in those conditions. We found many with their families. But we’re gonna find every one of these children and make sure they are safe.”
This discussion follows a July 10 operation by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) at two California marijuana farms.
During the operation, at least ten minors were rescued, eight of whom were reportedly unaccompanied. The operation also involved an incident where an individual allegedly fired a pistol at ICE agents.

Homan commented on the priorities of such operations: “We’ll deal with the immigration consequences down the road, but the first priority… is rescuing those that are forced labor and forced trafficking and making sure they’re safe, something the last administration didn’t do.” He further remarked, “They want to talk Trump 45 separating families, you just spoke about a half a million kids coming across the border who were separated from their families and put in the hands of criminal cartels be smuggled into this country. That’s where the real family separation happens.”
Homan also connected border policies to broader societal impacts, adding, “It also happens to the hundreds of angel moms and dads that I met that buried their children murdered by someone that Joe Biden released into the streets of this country.”

The Trump administration previously issued executive orders addressing illegal immigration and border security, which included designating Mexican drug cartels, the Venezuelan prison gang Tren de Aragua (TdA), and the El Salvadoran prison gang MS-13 as foreign terrorist organizations.
Additionally, the Alien Enemies Act of 1798 was invoked on March 15 to expedite the deportation of gang members.
